Made it to the trail cam (unique video)

The other batteries were dead. The new ones registered 99% capacity on the camera read out. This will be a permanent Station for a six month deployment.

Kevin and I in field today

Today is when we make the final deployment of the Reconyx trail cams for their Summer season. The weather is still dry for now but Skunk Ape migration will be happening soon. The cams will be left up until November so strong batteries are the order of the day. Updates on this blog later today.

Bigfoot driving you kooky?

Keep drinking
The world of Bigfoot is at a tipping point. The new media has allowed anyone with an internet connection to join the fray, and be the "best Bigfoot researcher in the world." Competition is fierce to get hits, and subs, and all that stuff. It also seems you can make money at it. Dig it.

In the old days of Bigfoot, you worked alone. You could spend months without ever making contact with anyone else in the field. You would finally meet up with your kindred souls at a conference or something. These were the trailblazers of the Bigfoot world. Now, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Blogtalk Radio, can make you an overnight success. That is not bad in its own right. However, it does attract those who are not necessarily all about pure research. If the only witness to what you are doing is YOURSELF, then fudging can be employed. Cut your video at the point where you would be made, and now your egregiousness is never known to mankind. In time, you begin to notice something - videos that show something (a lot of something) get all the love. We all want to be loved, right?

A few years ago, nobody was doing research on YouTube. firstbillyjack, tcsjrbigfoot, fasanotampa came along, and now, the armchair guy could sit at home and get his daily fix of Bigfoot. They became very popular. They were not, how can we say, actually finding much. I mean, they tried their best. Blobs could be seen that may be a Bigfoot. But that was alright. There was no Adsense and they were not hurting anyone. Then, THE CHAMP appeared. Timbergiantbigfoot would take this concept to an unimaginable height.

His knowledge of psycology and marketing would form the perfect blend to bring them in the tent in numbers not seen since P.T. Barnum displayed the "petrified man." Timber knew it was important to not get involved with the Bigfoot community. Knowing that factions always form when dealing with humans, he went underground. No last name, no Facebook, no Twitter, no Blogtalk, no Tumbr, no nothing, would be the order of the day. He would then only be accountable to his followers. Smart. Very smart. Back to the Cardiff Giant.

The giant being excavated in New York

The Cardiff Giant was being displayed by a small circus in New York and Barnum wanted it. He wanted it so bad, he had a sculptor make one that was ten feet tall. They poured acid on it and scared it with flame to make it look old. Crowds lined up to see it...screw the bearded lady.

The Cardiff Giant was one of the most famous hoaxes in United States history. It was a 10-foot (3.0 m) tall purported "petrified man" uncovered on October 16, 1869, by workers digging a well behind the barn of William C. "Stub" Newell in Cardiff, New York. Both it and an unauthorized copy made by P.T. Barnum are still on display.
The spectacle was so successful that a newspaper reporter David Hunnum said "There's a sucker born every minute" a quote now attributed to Barnum.

There's a  lot of stuff right now coming out of Ontario, and based on the numbers of YouTube subs, there is a "sucker born every minute." Confidence men know this. That is what keeps them motivated.

A strange find

Kevin and I found this in a flood plane zone. It was high above the river bank and one mile from the nearest dock. We believe it was washed in during rainy season which will cause flood. Very powerful water can be.

Outakes with Kevin from Cypress Creek

These are some short videos of the outing Kevin and I did last February in the well fields. There have been Skunk Ape reports in this part of Florida and we went in to investigate. It is a very swampy area for it is a watershed for a major river.
Kevin explains what the objective of todays outing will be. The creek he is sitting on is Cypress Creek and that was our entry way into the much wider area. In the video below you will see the hawk pearched on a tree branch. Preditor birds always means an abundence of wildlife.
